HONEYWELL EXPLORES DATA-DRIVEN SAFETY AT A+A

With an estimated 2.3million people worldwide dying every year as a result of occupational accidents or diseases, the need to rethink safety at work is top priority. At this year’s A+A, Honeywell will demonstrate how the ability to connect workers and collect and use reliable data can not only enhance occupational safety and health, but also enable companies to streamline safety processes and gain a competitive advantage.

Honeywell connected worker is a portfolio of offers with edge devices (PPE, sensors, and wearables) tied to software to drive insights on worker productivity and safety. Combining wireless portable gas detectors with location data and software allows safety managers to remotely monitor worker exposure to toxic gases, oxygen deficiency, radiation and other hazards, instantly and over time. It is also possible to tackle previously neglected conditions such as noise induced hearing loss (NIHL). By integrating smart, wearable sensors with cutting-edge software and cloud-based services, the latest technology enables safety managers and workers to measure and monitor noise exposure in real-time.

One of the highlights at the stand will be Honeywell Sotera™ - the industry’s first connected safety cloud platform – that will support connected working such as two-way communications, geo-location and automatic safety alerts to provide employers with real-time awareness of safety incidents. The Honeywell Sotera platform integrates plant, edge-devices and personnel with HS&E software. It also simplifies device configuration, testing and maintenance, streamlining compliance administration for safety managers by generating testing, certification, incident and other key reports at a glance.

There will be an opportunity to learn, through simulations of real safety hazards and events, how the provision of real-time information via Honeywell connected safety solutions can not only lead to better decision making in the workplace, and ultimately save lives. It also helps improve business processes, reduce safety and compliance costs and increase worker productivity, driving the bottom line.
