Conference to explore life-changing impact of workplace injuries

The life-changing impact of workplace injuries and the latest initiatives to protect workers will be explored at a conference organised by the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health’s (IOSH) Isle of Man Branch on Wednesday 6 March.

The branch’s Annual Health and Safety Conference 2019 will focus on promoting excellence in health and safety management practices within all areas of industry throughout the Isle of Man and beyond and provide an excellent opportunity for delegates to hear about the latest initiatives and changes to legislation.

Speakers at the conference include: The Honourable Howard Quayle MHK, Chief Minister for the Isle of Man; representatives of the IOM Police; Tim Eldridge, Vice-President of IOSH; and Jenny Deeney, a highly-emotive impact speaker who lost her partner and a close friend in a workplace accident.

There will be other first-hand accounts of life-changing episodes experienced by individuals who have been injured at work.

The conference will be an ideal networking event for everyone, whether from the public or private sectors, to gain valuable knowledge during open discussions and networking opportunities that will take place between a variety of speakers’ presentations.

Delegates will also get to see how membership of IOSH can help grow their career prospects through Continuing Professional Development and Initial Professional Development, whilst giving them the opportunity to bring new ideas and initiatives to the branch by standing for the local executive at its Annual General Meeting on Friday 26 April.

The Isle of Man Branch Annual Health and Safety Conference 2019 is on Wednesday 6 March 2019 at Mount Murray Golf & Country Club, Mount Murray Road, Santon, Isle of Man, IM4 2HT.

The event, which is free to attend, including lunch and refreshments, is limited to 120 delegates and registrations must be received by Friday 22 February 2019.
